STEP 5: LOTUS FORMS IS THE NEWEST FORMS PROGRAM FOR THE GOVERNMENT |
|||||||
Download software from: https://chess.army.mil/ascp/commerce/download/lotus_forms_viewer.jsp (The CHESS website has scheduled outages: Saturdays between 2-5 AM EST and the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month between 7-12 PM EST)
If you are still having problems accessing the software outside of the hours listed above, please read below.
If you have Pure Edge viewer currently installed and it is working on your computer, there is no reason to change to Lotus Forms. If you insist on changing, please click this link for information you will need to accomplish the change from Pure Edge viewer to Lotus Forms. NOTE: You may have to register for this site when you first get to it. This is the same site where you will download ApproveIt and can order computers with the Government employee discount. Click the Link Titled: Download Software, (you will be prompted to logon with your AKO account). Click the link titled: Lotus Forms Viewer Application, Save it to your computer. Once it is downloaded, double click the file titled: LotusForms351.exe, [When it says it will take a few minutes, it really does] (one person stated it took 5 hours). When little box closes it is done installing. PROCEED TO STEP 6 - INSTALL APPROVE IT
Installation problems and cures can be found on the FAQs page The ideas on this website are from my personal experience. The "official" response is to send XP & Vista users to the Army Publishing Directorate so they know about all of the problems with this program. 703-428-0545 or apdfcmp@conus.army.mil (If you are using Windows 7, they will NOT help you), you will have to try my ideas. To get DA forms, go to the Army Publishing Directorate website, click on the DA Forms button under EForms, find the form you need (in the range of form numbers). Right click the XFDL link to the right of the form you want, Select Save Target As. Save it to your computer and you will have the form for later. You can also click the link, it will open up your Lotus Forms / Pure Edge software automatically. When in Lotus Forms / Pure Edge, you will use the Save As link at the top of the page to save your form.
To download DA forms, go to the Army Publishing Directorate website http://www.apd.army.mil/ , click on the DA Forms button http://www.apd.army.mil/USAPA_PUB_formrange_f.asp under EForms, find the form you want (in the range of form numbers). Right click the XFDL link to the right of the form you want, Select Save Target As. Save it to your computer and you will have the form for later. You can also click the link, it will open up your Lotus Forms / Pure Edge software automatically. Use the Save As link at the top of the page to save your form.
You can use the following link to download all available Lotus Forms / PureEdge forms in a single zipped file. http://www.army.mil/usapa/eforms/index.html#eforms_range It is recommended if you want to use this .zip file [with all the forms], you [at a minimum] redownload the file once a week. This is due to forms being made obsolete, updated, new forms being added, etc. This way you are sure to have the most current version of any form that is available. You will want to use the "click here" for the XFDL files, which is located in the middle of the page.
Formflow is still available NOTE: APD has removed ALL Formflow forms from their website.
Digitally signing a form is simple when following these instructions With a form open and your CAC inserted in the card reader Single click the area that looks like a little slanted pen with some writing after it Read the disclaimer, hit OK Click the word Sign Select your name (the one without the word email in it), then OK You should see your name, once you do, click the word Sign It will prompt you for your PIN, type it in, then select OK Once you read Signature is valid, Select OK You have now signed your form
If you are interested in knowing how to digitally sign a memorandum, this is how to do it
This email was received from APD on 25 August 2010 when I asked for permission to have an alternate download location for people when the CHESS website is down.
In regards to your email below, As I am sure you are well aware APD is the Enterprise provider of Lotus Forms Viewer and Silanis ApproveIt software. There are only two channels that are authorized to be the authoritative distributor of the fore mentioned software, 1. AGM (Army gold Master) for GFE installation/use and 2. CHESS (Computer Hardware, Enterprise Software Solutions) for PFE (Personal funded equipment) installation/use. APD does not authorize any other body (i.e. AKO KCC's) to distribute its Enterprise Software. Your request to have this software hosted on your KCC has been dually noted. At this time your request to host/provide the Lotus Forms Viewer and Silanis ApproveIt software is Denied. You will be advised if APD's stance on this request changes in the future.
For issues with obtaining the software from the CHESS site you should utilize the Official Army channels for assistance with Lotus Forms Viewer and Silanis ApproveIt software and contact the APD help desk at 703-428-0545 or via email at APDFCMP@conus.army.mil or the CHESS help desk at CHESS@conus.army.mil to report an issue with obtaining the software.
